NaNoWriMo posted an event where you can e-mail a book pitch to the Book Doctors, and they will critique 25 of them at random. I am limited to 250 words and got to 248. I hope it’s compelling! Feedback would be loved on this one.
My NaNoWriMo novel, No Distance Greater than the Stars, is a sci-fi drama that takes the reader on an escapade across a distant arm of the galaxy. What starts off as a dream vacation on a space station near the Regulus star cluster quickly descends into the scene for a rebellion that tears the station to pieces. Infiltrated by the tyrannical K’zzyrch, Space Station Regulus II is torn apart, and anyone who is not able to escape is taken into slave trades on different planetary systems by the as a means to further fund their battles. As they struggle to break free, the lovers Citlally and Endan are Injected with a reptilian poison and hopelessly separated, abused, and taken to hostile planets that hold their lives in check. The only thing they have left is the faint memory, clouded by the poison, of a promise that they made to one another: “if we are ever separated, never stop trying to get back into each other’s arms, no matter the distance between us.” Despite every warning to obey her new masters, Citlally defies the circumstances that she is thrust into at every opportunity, even while Endan fights to remember his own name while enduring the deep heartache of having lost something more precious to him than life itself. The entire galaxy seems to be working against them, but they are determined to sort the allies from the enemies and reunite, no matter what it means they have to do.
